The South Perth Women’s
Hockey Club is celebrating its 60th Diamond
Anniversary in 2007 and is inviting current and past members
to become involved.
The club is one of the
oldest district-based women’s hockey clubs in the
metropolitan area with a proud heritage of unbroken
representation in the area. Last season the club fielded 14
teams; 8 senior teams and 6 junior teams comprising some 200
players.
In 2006 the Club had a
number of individual achieving players, with 6 in the
Australian Hockey League, 3 in the Under 21’s, 1 in the
Under 18’s, 2 in the Veterans and 1 in the Under 21’s
Indoor. Three coaches and managers performing at the State
level also distinguished the Club. Melissa Hall had an
outstanding year, being awarded the WHLL League Fairest &
Best, as well as coaching the Northern Territory Pearls and
Co-coach/Manager of the WA Under 21’s. The Club’s State
League 2 and 3 team members Ali Markey and Emma Bosenberg
were also awarded their respective grades’ Fairest & Best.
Plans for the club’s 60th
anniversary include a Sundowner, to be held on 26 May at the
Richardson Park Clubrooms, and a 60th Diamond
Anniversary Dinner, being held on 4 August at the Royal
Perth Golf Club. Club members would love to hear from past
members and welcome new senior and junior members.
